Laurent Minguet is a French multidisciplinary artist, who lives and works in Toulouse in France.
Mastering acrilic techniques, his body of work focuses on landscapes and hyperurbanization. He depicts scenes from the world's megalopolises in a monochrome hyperrealism accompanied by large pictorial incursions.
Laurent Minguet paints on fine timber, walnut, cherrywood, or oak species, or even on marble, carefully selected for their random veining. His line, precise and essential, meticulously traces and reconstructs architectural and urban details in a photographic rigor. The painting reproduces the contrasts of a natural light in acrylic washes that integrate into the very material of the substrate, allowing us to enter deep into his hyperrealism.
The strength of his compositions is underlined by the pictorial material, raw, deposited, thrown, dripping or geometric. This graphic trace destabilizes our perception and finally guides us towards a materialist realism that reveal the fundamental of what is a pictorial work, the material and the color. The subject itself - the city, its life, its icons - is then revealed in a continuity of transparency between the colored materials and the veins of the substrate to transport us into an immersion that is both geographical, conceptual and aesthetic.

Laurent Minguet is a self-taught artist who developed his hyperrealism technique from a very young age in the 80s, drawing inspiration from the shapes and reflections of automotive silhouettes.
It was in 1995, upon returning from his first trip to New York, that he began painting cities. Initially on canvas, he changed his support in 2014, embracing different type of wood. He carefully select the timber so that the grain pattern would enhance the dynamism of the work.
Like his predecessors Calder, Stella, Warhol, or Koons who have been creating it from the 70s, Laurent MINGUET was commissioned in 2021 to create 2 ART CARS to race in the 24 HOURS of Le Mans. He proposed a dual project based on original paintings, and designed the scenography of the stand to exhibit the 2 cars as in an Art gallery.
Laurent Minguet is a recognized and appreciated artist in Europe, exhibited by several galleries and participating in international art fairs.
Represented by Ikono Art in Tokyo since 2025, the WOODCITY QUINTESSENCE exhibition is his first solo show in Japan.
