Romain Rivalan is a photographer based in Marseille in France. He regulary works in tandem with the video artist Youri Cayron.
His photographic approach explore the relationship between individuals and their territory(ies), questionning the notion of the occupation of space on the differents scale of the body, landscape and architecture. The interconnexions between humans and their immediate environment is at the heart of his work.

His practice evolved over time until it crystallised in the exclusive use of black and white film. He has taken part in a number of solo, tandem or group exhibitions in France, Europe and Canada, and has been invited to creative residencies, notably with Youri Cayron, to develop his research and present the work Ask the birds approaching urban planning and identity issues in Israel and West Bank, Palestine.
