ART CARS - 24H - LE MANS 2021
Since the 1970s, ART CARS have been racing cars competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, decorated by internationally renowned artists such as Alexander Calder, Franck Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and more recently Arman, César, Jef Koons, Fernando Costa, and Ramzi Adeck.
In 2021, artist Laurent MINGUET was commissioned to create a dual project for the prototypes of Panis Racing #65 and PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports #24.
The design is based on two original paintings of each car, created in a complementary style, but with different color harmonies. A background of raw materials, such as wood or marble, provides an initial originality. Then, drips of color applied to the entire bodywork accentuate the effect of the cars' speed.
To perfect the concept, Laurent Minguet proposed a specific scenography for the stands so that the cars were presented as in an art gallery, where the original paintings were exhibited as well as a series of limited editions.
